On this trip, I will take you to the picturesque Lusatian Mountains (Lužické Hory), the heart of Czech glassmaking, where glass has been produced continuously since the Middle Ages. Over the centuries, this region has earned a worldwide reputation that it proudly maintains to this day through exceptional craftsmanship, creativity, and innovation.
During the tour, you will step into the world of glassmaking—not only as observers. Under the guidance of experienced master glassmakers, you will have the opportunity to try glassblowing yourself and experience firsthand the fascinating process of creating a unique work of art.
We will visit two prestigious glassworks whose bespoke luxury pieces are exported around the globe. Our first stop is Pačinek Glass, whose glass creations have appeared in the film Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and have been crafted as trophies for sports teams such as the Philadelphia Eagles and the Nashville Predators. The visit includes a guided tour of the Crystal Temple, a unique gallery and spiritual space dedicated to the work of the Pačinek glassmaking family. A highlight is the tour of the glassworks itself, where you can watch glassmakers at work, as well as a stroll through the enchanting garden filled with monumental glass sculptures.
For lunch, we will stop at the nearby Ajeto Glassworks in Lindava. One of its co-founders was the world-renowned designer Bořek Šípek, who served as the chief architect of Prague Castle during the presidency of Václav Havel. Ajeto is behind numerous major projects, including the trophies for the Tour de France, and is now part of the Lasvit group—a global leader in creating large-scale lighting installations for luxury hotels and public spaces worldwide. While enjoying lunch, you can watch visitors trying their hand at glassblowing and, if you wish, decide to join in this unforgettable experience yourself.
