Join us on a journey to the popular South Bohemia region, located approximately a two-hour drive away, where we will visit three remarkable historical landmarks.
The highlight of the trip is the Český Krumlov Castle and Château, one of the most important monuments of European cultural heritage. The picturesque area below the castle, with its richly decorated burgher houses and narrow streets lining the Vltava River, has preserved its authentic medieval atmosphere to this day. The entire historic center of the town is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Nearby lies the university city of České Budějovice, founded by the Czech king in 1265. Its pride is a spacious historic square covering 1.7 hectares (4 acres), dominated by a historic town hall. In the winding streets of the city, you will find cozy cafés, and in the shade of the Dominican monastery you can taste beer from a local microbrewery located in a former salt warehouse.
The final stop is the elegant Hluboká nad Vltavou Château, surrounded by an extensive English-style park and complemented by an important art gallery housed in the former stables. Both Český Krumlov Castle and Hluboká Château offer visits to richly preserved historical interiors.
Thanks to its exceptional concentration of historical monuments and its picturesque landscape, South Bohemia ranks among the most popular holiday regions in the Czech Republic.
